09. AUGUST 2019 70 YEARS OF ADIDAS & INAUGURATION OF THE WORLD OF SPORTS ARENA
In August 2019, adidas celebrated its 70th anniversary and the inauguration of the new Arena building at the "World of Sports" in Herzogenaurach, Germany. Among the guests of honour were singer/songwriter Pharrell Williams, tennis icon Stan Smith, soccer world champion Philipp Lahm, Olympic gold medalists Laura Dahlmeier and Magdalena Neuner, as well as the daughter and founder of the "Adi & Käthe Dassler Memorial Foundation", Sigrid Dassler, and other Dassler family members. Hip Hop Group "Run DMC" performed their song “My Adidas” exclusively for the guests. The highlight of the event was the inauguration of the Arena office building which offers space for around 2,000 adidas staff.

Established by Adi Dassler and based in Herzogenaurach, the company was added to the commercial register on 18 August 1949. Launching with just 47 members of staff, the enterprise has since evolved into a global brand and market leader in the sports goods industry.
